To celebrate InterPlay’s 25th Anniversary and Pittsburgh’s 10th anniversary, over 30 folks from Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Youngstown joined our first-ever International Day of InterPlay at the high-tech Jeron X Grayson Center in the re-imagined Hill District. Simultaneous gatherings of InterPlayers all over North America connected by live video and in the spirit of InterPlay. We had an hour-playshop preceding our Awards Luncheon after which we then went live with over a dozen other InterPlay sites across the USA.
During our Awards Luncheon short performances from our troupe, The Wing and a Prayer Pittsburgh Players (accompanied by our improv musician, Lori Russo on keyboard) entertained all. Sheila Collins, Director of Wing and a Prayer Players, performed the history of InterPlay Pittsburgh. We honored Kristy Trautmann, executive director of the FISA Foundation, with the Spirit of InterPlay Award for the work she does every day in improving the quality of life for women, girls, and people with disabilities in the Southwestern PA region.
During a rousing rendition of “Who Does She Think She Is,” an improvised song the troupe plays with often, we surprised one of our troupe members, Laverne Baker Hotep with the first InterPlay Pittsburgh Ambassador Award. Laverne weaves InterPlay into all she does as an inspired community educator.
Thank you Kristy and Laverne!
And thank you all who made donations to our InterPlay scholarships for local new leaders.
